I have been using fail-safes manufactured by Large Scale R/C for 7 years now in my gas boats and have found them to be bullet proof.

On several occasions over that time, they have activated and killed my engine and prevented a runaway boat.

As I specialize in SAW racing, most times they have worked, is when I have attempted to go beyond the range of my radio gear that can normally be traced back to low battery in my Transmitter that reduced the effective range.

The latest occasion they saved a runaway boat, was at the recent Australian SAW event at Mulwala in NSW when again range seemed to be the issue and the fault was traced back to a faulty receiver.

Having witnessed the number of runaway boats at the 2023 AMPBA Nationals I will not hesitate to recommend to anyone running a gas boat whether Mono Hydro or Tunnel to run one for peace of mind and save a lot of potential damage to boat, property and person.

I've bought 10 or more of Large Scale RC's failsafes  all of them have been used on 1/5 race cars. Rate them 10 out of 10, have saved many a Disaster when servo Jams open, servo horn breaks especially on a flat battery, cuts engine instantly, even waterproof!!

I have been in RC boats for the last 40 years.

In that time there has been a lot of innovation and commercialization of the hobby, going from the old days where almost every aspect was handmade, to now, where every part can be ordered online and simply needs bolting on.

With the advent of high power petrol marine engines, so safety became a serious concern, its now mandatory that all petrol powered craft run an ignition kill system.

I have seen a few different versions of this from a few different countries, but the home grown kill switch system that Brent of Large Scale RC has designed and makes and provides is not only easy to install, its super reliable and works every time, even after the odd dunk or two. Compared to other units its very affordable and Brent is right here in NZ to provide back up service should you encounter an issue.

Another aspect of petrol boats was the noise issue. Brent has spent a lot of time perfecting a silencer design that works super well. Theres a minimum length it needs to be to meet the NZMPBA noise limit, and the longer you go the quieter it gets. Theres no noticeable drop off in power or revs, the mufflers are of a "straight through" design where the secret is in the internal element and noise absorbing material.  It makes spending a day at the lake much more enjoyable when you don't have to shout just to have a conversation ! 

Brent has been around the RC scene for quite some time, and takes time to understand what challenge it is you might be trying to solve, and often comes up with great ideas that helps make those problems go away.

I have known Brent a good number of years and can highly recommend his products and services.

I have 5 boats with this failsafe device attached on single engine and a twin engine boats and wouldn,t run my boat without one.

They work extremely well and have saved an expensive re-build a few times in the past.
